America the road trip ! PART 1

With the end of one season comes the begining of a new season and new adventures and to kick it all off how about a road trip across the greatest country in all of the world !! AMERICA !!!
So our plan started out with my dad to fly out to Summit County, CO and attempt to not only test his skiing ability but also to test what I had learned about teaching skiing. My dads first day on skis/ My last day gainfully employed in this country this year. Made a great trade from teaching for the day to a couple of hours spent in the ripperoo costume !! at any rate we had a great day skiing in the snow and dad made some real progress even made it down some green trails.
Our second day was spent really getting some mileage in on the trail and finding the inner chi of the ski. I got my dad to ride the gondla and meet me over at the outback lodge eating lunch at over 11,000 Ft can really get you hungry so we had to get an EPIC cupcake

Gear Review Update: Head Mojo 94 W/ Marker Jester Bindings

Just the facts:
Skis: 173 length 94mm waist sandwich construction
Bindings: 16 Din
Skier: 176 length 812mm waist full of sandwiches, not real great with construction

Opinions only folks:
I have skied on these planks now for about half a season these are my true one quiver option and this has been a one quiver season out here in summit county colorado. Got to ski in some variable conditions and all over the mountain (frontside, backside, minimal park). These skis really did great all over the place. My only complaint is the weight issue these are some heavy mugs. This is obviously not an ideal setup for any alpine touring but for those resort days these are hard to beat for sure. The binding setup with these skis is great for my purposes wanting to ski everywhere at the resort. The bindings have a great hold and you can really feel the difference when you are leaning them over, you can feel a much wider confidence inspiring base. On to the skis, as I was saying earlier this has not been the great powder season I was hoping for but still its better then no snow at all. These are some great skis even on the hard stuff though they are soooo stiff and heavy that you can just slice the hard pack with very little chatter. Also in the crud/chowder (Waking up a little late for the powder day for first tracks) these beast just power through making short work of the chop and giving you the ability to just crush right across tracks. Wide dynamic turns on these skis in chop and not the most favorable conditions are where the Mojo really comes out!!!

New Crampons came in !!!

Just got my new crampons in for this upcoming season in Norway !! So far they seem like they will work great, really solid fit to my boots and fairly lightweight. I am planning on using these bad mamma jammaz on both mountaineering trips and ice climbing trips next winter in Ouray Colorado. What sold me on these specific crampons was number one the price and number 2 the reviews from other users. they really have everything you could ask for in a multi use crampon and if you are looking for a one crampon quiver as I am, all signs point to these crampons.
